Where To Invade Next
(2015)
Score
To show what the USA can learn from rest of the world, director Michael Moore playfully visits various nations in Europe and Africa as a one-man "invader" to take their ideas and practices for America. Whether it is Italy with its generous vacation time allotments, France with its gourmet school lunches, Germany with its industrial policy, Norway and its prison system, Tunisia and its strongly progressive women's policy, or Iceland and its strong female presence in government and business among others, Michael Moore discovers there is much that American should emulate.
The Propaganda Game
(2015)
Score
North Korea, formerly known as the hermit kingdom, is perhaps the largest source of instability as regards world peace. Its border is one of the most militarized in the world. The lack of impartial information, both inside and coming out of the country, is the perfect setting for a propaganda war, which will be analyzed in the film through numerous examples of the surprising way in which information is manipulated, in and about North Korea. Alejandro Cao de Benos, the sole foreigner who works for the DPRK Government, and many locals will show us their vision of the reality in North Korea. The other side of the story will be reflected through interviews to South Korean citizens, human rights advocates, diplomats, propaganda experts, etc.
Beltracchi - The Art Of Forgery
(2014)
Score
A mesmerizing, thought-provoking yet surprisingly amusing documentary on the life and times of Wolfgang Beltracchi, who tricked the international art world for nearly 40 years by forging and selling paintings of early 20th-century masters. A larger-than-life personality who was responsible for the biggest art forgery scandal of the postwar era.
The Missing Picture
(2013)
Score
For many years, I have been looking for the missing image: a photography taken between 1975 and 1979 by the Khmer Rouge (Red Cambodians) as they were ruling over Cambodia… On its own, of course, an image cannot prove mass murdering, but it gives us thoughts, brings us to meditate; writes down History.I searched for it vainly in the archives, in old papers, in the countryside of Cambodia.Today I know: this image must be missing. So I created it.What I give you today is neither an image nor the search for a unique image, but the image of a quest: the quest that cinema allows.

One Nation, Two Cities
(2015)
Score
One Nation, Two Cities is about a Chinese woman who spends most of her life fighting for the right of abode in Hong Kong so she can unite her family. She moves from village to city, experiencing the dramatic changes that follow economic reform. There is no doubt that the country is richer, but at the same time, the “family” she longed for becomes dysfunctional. Divorce and remarriage are not uncommon in today’s China, but she goes even further. She decides to redefine and recreate the family in her own way. Seemingly, everything is achieved by her free will; however, the fact is that politics haunts her at all times, and she can never escape its shadow.
